It's been quite a perspiration inspired week- from the October Summer heat awaiting the rains, to a laser focus in drafting various application letters for Masters programmes. Pieces of me that I hope you'll enjoy reading about as I explore my way through this new adventure.

In response to a question about, "why, at this point are you interested in doing this thing?, I responded with the following:

Motivated to make meaning accessible by translating it into action steps, Social Behavioural Researcher and Cultural Translator, Rugare Tambo, is anchored by Stoic philosophy. Marcus Aurelius, father of Stoicism, and inspiration to Nelson Mandela said, "The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way..." So, to analyse inequalities, address discriminatory practices and unjust power distribution that impedes development progress, Rugare applies a Human Rights based approach to support the transformational vision of Agenda 2030- eradicating poverty in all its forms.

As Public Relations Coordinator for iOppose in the USA, she developed curriculum and facilitated training of a sexual-exploitation-prevention packet called, “Savvy Girls”, encouraging protection of children from human trafficking. This led to her participation in the 47th UNCSW in 2013, at the invitation of Mrs. Rumbidzai Nhundu, as Zimbabwe's Gender Based Violence Bill was drafted at UN Headquarters, New York. Thus promoting a culture of reduced inequalities.

Recently, as a 30 year old, Zimbabwean, Education Programme Consultant at UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa, Rugare has supported the unit in increasing the capabilities and efficacy of life-long learners through the “Teacher Standards and Competencies Framework”, a working document for standardisation practices in Education, approved by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministerial body in June of 2018.

Her dexterity lies in her knack for increasing profile visibility, her ability to network and overall civic engagement. In the milieu of expectations, before an audience of national and international stakeholders such as; diplomats; graduate students; human-rights groups; and educators, implementing Sustainable Development Goal 4, “Quality Education” has been her most concentrated area of focus.

By way of applied technical skill using SLIDO, Survey Monkey, Canva and the Microsoft Office suite, Rugare has drafted country reports and briefs for use by intergovernmental agencies, Non-Governmental Organisations and high level Ministerial Officials. Other technical writing includes; speeches; project proposals; policy framework documents; and feature pieces on social media platforms. With soft-skills developed from 2004, as a Rotary Exchange Student to Argentina, until her graduation in 2012 with a B.A in Communication from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Rugare proves to be adaptable and irrepressible.

Decidedly, for the purposes of becoming globally competitive and developing her career, Rugare aims to pursue an MBA so as to move outside the stagnating socio-economic meltdown prevalent in Zimbabwe. In this way she seeks to maximise the talents that make her exceptional and minimise that which would hinder productivity and progressiveness.
