How safety scissors moved an educator to tears
Can
you guess what the difference is between being privileged and
underprivileged? One pencil. Simple, almost incredulous,
yet true. The lack of educational resources is a reality for Early
Childhood-Development (ECD) centres and primary schools in rural and peri-urban
Zimbabwe, in areas such as Seke, Marikopo and Caledonia to name a
few.
In response, The Yellow Bus Trust, in association with Corporate Earth, have initiated a Nativity-Crafts Drive. Our vision is to bring resources to rural schools in Zimbabwe to enrich the education they are receiving. Our current goal is to fill and deliver a minimum of 10 boxes to 46 schools whose class size ranges between 45-50 children. However, the more we can gather, the more we can deliver, and so our collection list includes the following used items:
- Empty
pill boxes
- Scrap
paper (ie one side printed, reverse side clear)
- Toilet
rolls (inner cardboard roll)
- Old
magazines
- Empty
Cereal Boxes
- Ends
of wool/ thread
- Egg
cartons
- Glue-stick
- Safety
Scissors
- Pencils
- Old
Crayons (even if the set is not full)
- Poster
paint (even if the pots are not full)
- Yogurt
containers (mini-individual cartons)
- Hard/
Loose biscuits for an icing project
Sharing is
caring, so forward this to your family and friends, and remember to drop off
your donations in the marked collection bins at Innovate HPC Gym. Should you
